They say the only thing in life you can rely on is change. And on the whole that's fine with me. I like the internet superhighway thingy-me-jig. I'm up for putting all my music in a shiny white device that I can hang around my neck, strap to my arm, or clip to my jacket. I even reckon that on the whole there is something nice about writing what you've been up to on a website, and inviting comment.
But sometimes I miss the way it used to be. When music was stacked in a messy pile against my bedroom wall, and no where else. When computers were for playing 'Horace Goes Skiing'. And the only place I was allowed to write was the school magazine (and only then if I managed to write a better report of the school French trip than Mark Hughes).
Those were the days. Now gone. But still partially retrievable when the right sound track presents itself. When you're least expecting it you can still go momentarily go back, back to a time when music came from shops, telephone calls away from home were made from big red boxes, and porn came from the 'marital aids' shop in Slough (apparently).
But that was then. This is now. And, but for those ocassional moments, that is that.
I see a career as a VJ in your future.

porn seemed to come from hedges by the roadside if i remember
Posted by: dan burgess | 11/27/2007 at 10:24 PM
Porn was from hedges. I can back you up on that. Music was from the record shop whose name I've forgotten. Mainly Tears For Fears, with some Scritti Politti if you were lucky.

Good point, Dans, what has happened to hedge porn?

There's a US band that is giving back the porn to the hedges (or trees, as it is for them) whenever they go on tour. They realised that the YouTube/BlewTube generation are missing out on great porn and are doing something about it! heh..Social Justice at its best.

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In 77 and 69 revolution was in the air
I was born too late into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
When the head of state didn't play guitar,
Not everybody drove a car,
When music really mattered and when radio was king,
When accountants didn't have control
And the media couldn't buy your soul
And computers were still scary and we didn't know everything
When pop-stars still remained a myth
And ignorance could still be bliss
And when God Saved the Queen she turned a whiter shade of pale
When my mom and dad were in their teens
And anarchy was still a dream
And the only way to stay in touch was a letter in the mail
When record shops were still on top
And vinyl was all that they stocked
And the super info highway was still drifting out in space
Kids were wearing hand me downs,And playing games meant kick around
And footballers still had long hair and dirt across their face
I was born too late to a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair.
Great Post Great Blog you have a new friend now.
